These compounds appear to have an impact on a fundamental pathological process caused by the progressive formation of protein-carbohydrate complexes called Advanced Glycation End-products (A.G.E.s). Alteon has created a library of novel classes of compounds targeting the A.G.E. pathway.
Alteon has discovered 17 distinct chemical classes of A.G.E. Crosslink Breakers, comprising a library of 650 compounds. With this new technology platform, the possibility exists to reverse tissue damage caused by aging and diabetes.
