Animas is well on its way to making continuous blood glucose monitoring a reality - no more finger sticks to measure blood glucose. We are developing an optical sensor that is implanted under the skin, much like a pacemaker, to measure blood glucose. The long-term vision of our company is to combine the pump and sensor in a single, closed loop device to form, in essence, an artificial pancreas.
