Job Description
Company Summary: Our client is a technology-driven, global health care company that develops and commercializes specialty pharmaceutical products for the eye care, neuromuscular, skin care and other specialty pharmaceutical products.

Position Description
In addition to the effective management of all aspects of assigned drug development projects, the responsibilities of the Project Management Director will include team leadership of critical drug development projects, coordination of the development strategy for a specific therapeutic area, management of the overall budget and forecast for a specific therapeutic area, and project management of the most critical drug development projects. The result of these efforts will be the maximization of the return on investment of assigned projects and of the assigned therapeutic area, without sacrificing quality.

Position Requirements

  • Advanced science degree and 12 plus years in a pharmaceutical R and D environment; Ph.D. in a biological science and eight years in a pharmaceutical R and D environment; or Bachelor of Science, with a MBA, and 10 plus years in pharmaceutical R and D environment including six years as Project Manager or equivalent.
  • Line management experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Expert knowledge of drug development activities and worldwide regulatory/legal requirements within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Expert in drug development and the interdependencies of individual development activities and projects.
  • Expert in regulatory requirements for product registration on global basis.
  • Expert in the application of project and portfolio management systems and processes.
  • A strong understanding of the development sciences (e.g., analytical chemistry, toxicology, microbiology, and clinical research).
  • Demonstrated leadership in successfully managing top, corporate priority, projects.
  • Proven strong leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to manage a portfolio of projects.
  • Proven ability to interact with and influence top management.
  • Proven ability to motivate, manage, and develop an innovative project team composed of scientific and technical personnel.
  • Proven ability to manage projects in a timely, cost effective, fashion.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Highly developed diplomatic negotiation and interpersonal skills and the ability to influence without formal authority.
  • Proven ability to perform independently.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage a strategic business plan.
