Job Description
U.S.-based NYSE-traded company develops, manufactures and markets prescription pharmaceutical products, primarily for CNS disorders, hypertension, pulmonary disorders and pain management. Annual revenues in excess of $3 billion. The Company is an “Employer of Choice” with a workforce in excess of 5,000. It enjoys an outstanding record of growth, profitability and stock price performance over the past two decades, as well as an impressive licensing and new product pipeline.
THE POSITION
The mission of this newly created position is to assist the Company’s senior-most corporate operations/manufacturing executive, to whom it reports, with the strategic development and integration of the manufacturing, packaging, engineering, shipping, receiving, facilities, distribution, records retention, warehousing, technical services, purchasing, materials management and construction functions for which he is responsible and which includes 17 facilities. In addition to serving as a key member of the overall top operations team, the position will also assume direct, day one management responsibility for some of the above functions, depending on the unique skills and experience that the incumbent brings. The position is based in Long Island, NY.
THE CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate possesses an undergraduate degree in engineering (chemical or mechanical preferred) and a Master of Business Administration degree, though a variety of educational backgrounds may be acceptable. He/she brings at least 15 years of relevant experience, most likely in a large, best practices pharmaceutical company and/or a nimble, entrepreneurial biotechnology company. Other acceptable industry backgrounds include cosmetics, nutraceuticals, medical device or other FDA-regulated industries. The ideal candidate has a demonstrated record of success and career progression and has grown to become “today’s manufacturing executive,” including not only a strong technical foundation, but also the ability to manage, lead and collaborate effectively in a complex, fast-paced organizational environment. Most importantly, the ideal candidate possesses the near to intermediate-term promotability potential to serve as the Company’s senior-most operations executive, reporting to the Company’s President and Chief Operating Officer.
