Job Description
As a Clinical Consultant you will be responsible for supporting ABIOMED's field sales and clinical efforts by promoting the understanding and use of all ABIOMED products at medical institutions with surgical and cardiovascular heart programs.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Patient Support: Improve patient outcomes through education and medical staff interaction. Visit all institutions where patients have been equipped with ABIOMED cardiac surgery and/or cardiovascular heart assist devices, heart replacement implants. Collect patient data, document trip results, and communicate activities with other team members and sales counterpart.
Education/Clinical Demos: Arrange or assist in coordinating on site clinical demos to educate all levels of the medical staff.
Account Training: Manage customer education for new accounts and existing accounts. Coordinate activities with sales counterpart and document results of each trip.
On Call: Maintain availability and manage calls (24 x 7) as indicated by the rotation schedule. Visit customer sites within and outside assigned territory as required. Coordinate with Clinical Manager
Animal Labs: Set up and conduct animal labs in conjunction with company policy and work closely with surgeon (presenter) on didactic content and lab activities
Skills/Requirements
BS degree in Life Sciences, Medicine or other technical discipline
RN degree strongly preferred
3-5 years of clinical experience in a Cardiac Surgery Operating Room and Cardiac Cath Lab is required
Willingness to travel up to 40 - 50% and to be available for emergency site 24x7 support
The ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines is essential
Computer skills in: PowerPoint, Word and Excel
The ability to provide presentations to Physicians, Staff and peers is required
