Job Description
The Reliability Engineer serves as a specialist in the area of mechanical integrity and/or rotating equipment with the goals of improving equipment reliability and lowering maintenance costs through the application of predictive maintenance technologies. The incumbent will lead Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), and Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) activities targeted to drive equipment reliability improvements. The Reliability Engineer will be a key resource and subject matter expert for several current and future Total Process Reliability teams.

Major Tasks of the Position:

•Develop Predictive Maintenance strategies to identify pending equipment failures utilizing technologies such as vibration analysis, ultrasonic inspection, thermography, and oil analysis.

•Lead FMEA, RCFA, and RCM studies on identified equipment and develop Corrective Action Plans to maximize availability and reliability.

•Manage the plant Mechanical Integrity program and ensure that all required testing and new work is in compliance with state and federal code requirements.

•Facilitate reliability reviews of new equipment installed as part of capital projects. Apply reliability tools and methods to minimize overall Life Cycle Cost of equipment.

•Perform PM reviews in order to insure potential failure modes are addressed with the appropriate mitigation activities conducted at the optimum frequency. Look for opportunities to replace PMs with non-intrusive PdM inspections.

•Develop and maintain reliability specifications to ensure equipment reliability. Specifications could include shaft alignment procedures and tolerances, electric motor rebuild requirements, lubricant selection guidelines, component standardizations, and dynamic balance requirements.

•Audit and ensure accurate and current data in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Develop and report on reliability trends and opportunity areas using CMMS data.

Must have BS in an engineering discipline, BSME preferred + at least five to eight years reliability engineering experience.
