KV Pharmaceutical is seeking a Director of General Accounting to manage the overall aspects of the general accounting department. These responsibilities include preparing and / or reviewing journal entries and reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, supporting schedules, and assisting with the regulatory reporting.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of month-end financial statements for each company and on a consolidated basis. You will supervise employees in the general accounting department to ensure that they are properly performing their duties, organize and administer the month-end closing process, prepare and/ or review journal entries for month-end closing process, lead internal projects related to the standardization of practices and improving the efficiency of the general accounting department, supply information to the Financial Reporting department for the timely preparation of quarterly reports on Form 10-Q and the annual report on Form 10-K, ensure the accuracy of all A/R reserve accounts, such as trade discounts, administration fees, promotional rebates, charge backs, and accrued incentives for new products. You will also be responsible for closing the A/P and A/R systems in JD Edwards on a monthly basis, be responsible for reconciling / reviewing balance sheet account reconciliations on a monthly basis, assist with Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 internal control documentation and testing, maintain an appropriate control structure in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404, be responsible for quarterly and year-end work paper preparation for outside auditors, be responsible for creating new general ledger accounts that need to be added to JD Edwards, maintain the JD Edwards general ledger system and for coordinating with IT regarding any JD Edwards upgrades, prepare selected schedules and footnotes for the Annual Report, and any other duties, as assigned, to meet departmental and Company objectives.
The successful candidate should have knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and controls; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, have a strong work ethic and leadership skills, have the ability to analyze and interpret accounting data and prepare financial statements and reports, knowledge of JD Edwards accounting system, be detail oriented and have the ability to meet deadlines. You must also have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in accounting, a minimum of eight years of relevant accounting experience, and experience as a manager of an accounting group. Experience with JD Edwards, an advanced degree , and CPA are all a plus.
